a balanced meal and lets kids play the food guide pyramid
game.

The Center for Nutrition and Policy Promotion provides
downloadable PDF images (reproducible and color versions)
of the guide to help young children make good food
choices. Educators can also download the free booklet, “Tips
for Using the Food Guide Pyramid for Young Children.”

This Quaker Oats-sponsored interactive activity is
fun and educational. Children can input their daily
food
intake to see how well they are meeting the food
pyramid requirements.

The National Dairy Council presents this simple and
colorful introduction to the food pyramid for intermediate
students.
Children click on the food group to learn a few
basic facts about how those foods help them grow.
There
are also examples of healthy food choices within
that food
group.
Ethnic/Cultural Food Guide Pyramid
The USDA links to additional food pyramids with
consideration to cultural or ethnic eating habits,
such as Mediterranean,
Native American and vegetarian diets, and those
for people over 70. The pyramid and supporting
information
is available
in 30 different languages. The site also includes
quizzes for preschool youth, a concentration
game and more.
